I'm trying to sell some very good stamps but no one gives me a good estimate of my stamps. They are rare. Some have advised me to go to auctions.

Be warned! While the web says the store is open, it isn’t. Doors are locked and the only way is through prior appointment. Visiting NYC and came planning to browse and buy supplies and perhaps potentially to buy some early vf nh og US (late 1800s) stamps. When you want good older stamps you want to look at them prior to purchasing. Something you can’t do via mail or web that well. Sad for collectors like me.

Bruce was rude, dismissive, and degrading. I called to schedule time to look at a tiny, inherited collection. Instead of saying, "I'm sorry, we can't help you" Bruce had to go on and on about how he wouldn't even THINK about looking at ANYTHING I had. I think he would have gone on all day telling me I was wasting his time. I kept telling him I understood and kept trying to get off the phone and he just wouldn't quit. It was hard enough calling about an inheritance, I had their number in front of me for months working through the grief to call. Just say "I can't help you." Why the degradation?

Champion Stamp Co is a landmark for stamp collectors both new and experienced. The last retail postage stamp dealer in New York City, Champion is a warm and inviting place to browse new finds and search for elusive stamps. They are somewhat well-known for their mystery boxes but have an impressive selection of US and worldwide covers and stamps. They sell from a website but the in-store experience is great! The staff is very knowledge and willing to help. I was looking for some obscure covers and they went out of their way to help me find some. They also have a selection of supplies for stamp collectors. Also, they deal in collectible currency and stock certificates if you collect those. I’ll visit Champion everytime I am in New York!

This is one of last survived mortar n brick stamp shop in New York City..maybe in the country. They have a huge domestic & international selection of stamps and accessories. I can easily spend hours browsing stamps. They are organized by countries and topical. They do close early and open til 7PM only on Thursday. This store bring me back my childhood memory of shopping stamps at the store.

Although I grew up in New York City, Champion Stamp Co. opened their shop after I had already moved away. However, on visits back to NYC I have been able to squeeze in 2 visits to Champion and was happy with each visit. Their stock of material is insanely large and makes for a rare chance to see so many scarce and beautiful stamps in person. A collector's dream. It's important to have reasonable expectations when visiting Champion. They have very high overhead- any idea how much it costs to maintain a large, street level store in Manhattan? So the goal should be to find things in person that you want for your collection, but not to expect pricing to compete with prices from someone selling from a spare bedroom in Indiana. You have to view Champion as an "outing," a destination stamp shop that is worth the time just to immerse in if you love stamps. Here's an example to compare to- how much does it cost for 2 people to see a Met's or Yankees game, with food, maybe a couple of beers, and a scorebook? $200 easy, probably more like $300. And what do you walk away with? AN EXPERIENCE. For a stamp collector, Champion Stamp Company is an experience. For that, they deserve some of your business when you visit. With this positive attitude and approach, I was able to buy good stuff on both my visits and had no quarrel about the pricing. I just loved being there and was grateful for their hospitality.
