The American Numismatic Association (ANA)

The ANA is the hobby's national organization. Membership ($28/year for adults, $18 for young numismatists) includes:

  • The Numismatist magazine monthly
  • Access to the ANA library and educational programs
  • Discounts at ANA conventions (the largest coin shows in the US)
  • Summer Seminar programs for in-depth learning

Local Coin Clubs

There are hundreds of local coin clubs across the US. Most meet monthly, charge $10–$25/year, and offer:

  • Monthly presentations on collecting topics
  • Show-and-tell sessions where members share recent acquisitions
  • Coin auctions among members (often great deals)
  • Youth programs and mentoring
  • Connections to local coin shows and dealers

Find clubs at coinclubs.org or ask at your local coin shop.

Online Communities

  • CoinTalk.com — The largest coin collecting forum. Active discussions on every topic.
  • Reddit r/coins — Large community for identification, grading, and discussion.
  • Collectors Universe forums (PCGS) — Expert-level discussions.
  • Facebook coin groups — Many specialized groups for specific series or topics.
