TL;DR My online experience with this coin shop was excellent. The coins were stunning, and the customer service was exceptional. I'd buy from them again, and would highly recommend them to a friend without hesitation.
Having recently received some not-so-great looking 'uncirculated' coins from a different coin shop online, I called Coins of America to ask some questions before placing an order. A pleasant and helpful gal picked up and patiently answered all of my questions. I could tell I was taking with someone that had a genuine interest (and dare I say, excitement) in Numismatics. She listened thoughtfully, and assured me that I just needed to jot down what I wanted in the online order notes, and she'd do her best.
That night I placed an online order for 64 different coins. As instructed, I included my ridiculous demands in the order notes. To my amazement, they got the order shipped the next day. I received it just 4 days later, and that was with a major holiday weekend in between.
I was a little nervous while opening the box from Coins of America. But wow, was I pleasantly surprised. I looked over the first coin with a lighted 3X magnification visor, and the coin looked stunning. The second coin looked just as good...so did the next one, and the next one...and the good news just kept coming. I went through all 64 coins, and I found only 2 that had very minor issues. (When I say they had minor issues, I am admittedly being pretty picky about it.) I'll also mention that the order was 100% correct. Each of the 64, unique coins I ordered was present and accounted for. The coins were all well-packaged and protected during shipping.
I took some high resolution photos of the 2 coins with minor issues, then reached out to Coins of America to inquire about an exchange. I called, and a different gal picked up. She was friendly and helpful too, and was familiar with my order. She asked me to email the photos, and said she'd see if they had anything in stock that didn't have the issues I identified in my photos.
The next day I got an email saying they'd send out 2 replacements. I picked up the phone and called, and I spoke with the same gal I talked to before placing my order. She said she'd drop the 2 replacements in the mail, and that I didn't need to return the 2 coins I had issues with. She was just as nice as you could be about the whole thing. I was impressed! At that point I asked if I could place an additional order online, and she could just toss the 2 replacements in the box along with my order. She cheerfully said that would be fine. I also inquired about something their website said was out-of-stock. She said she'd double-check, and if they had a good copy, she'd send it with my order.
So I placed a second order online, albeit a smaller one this time. The order arrived a few days later along with the 2 replacements, and that 'out-of-stock' item I wanted. All the coins in this order were stunning as well, and the order was again 100% correct.
I included 2 images that were representative of the excellent coins I received.
In summary, Coins of America was wonderful to deal with. I really appreciated that I could pick up the phone and talk with someone who was good at their job, and genuinely interested in what they were selling. As simple as that sounds, it's something that seems to be harder and harder to find these days. I wish all my online transactions went as well, and as smoothly as these 2 orders did. Coins of America is a keeper!
