Explored the shop for some time. My specialization is art, I have experience buying and selling art, have a degree in fine arts…. So much of the art pieces in there, namely the nudes and bust, literally student work being priced for hundreds of dollars ??? Excuse me ??? Student work can be GREAT, but in this case mediocre to bad. Certainly not worth 400 each my god. Also the Asian exoticism is REAL in this store, from items to pricing. It felt uncomfortable.

Finally stopped in to take a quick look and ended up buying a beautiful pocket watch. The shop is on the smaller side, but was impressed with the inventory. The guy that was working was super friendly and knowledgeable. Will definitely be back.

I went to Mr. Johnson’s Antique Shop to sell some items after calling ahead. The owner, Matt, told me to come in and make him an offer. When I did, he declined but refused to make a counteroffer or negotiate in good. Despite me clearly asking him not to, he opened several of the items, which were still in their original sealed packaging. He then made a lowball offer, about half of what I ultimately received from a different buyer. Also, before I could leave, I had to listen to a stream of inappropriate comments. He spoke disparagingly about older women and Mormons, and made objectifying remarks about Ethiopian women. His tone was condescending, rude, and controlling throughout the conversation. This was a deeply uncomfortable and unprofessional experience. I would not recommend this shop to anyone, but if you go don't go on Sundays when Matt usually works.

Amazing collection!! My sister and I visited the store and left with frames, cameo jewelry and wall decor. Great prices and very warm and friendly staff. 100% revisiting on my next trip to Seattle

I had a great experience here. Staff member at the checkout was genuinely interested in the items I was purchasing and we had a nice conversation about them. In general, the things in the store were very well priced and I'm definitely going to be coming back again, many times. It feels personal and intimate, without feeling too one-sided towards any one type of item. It's very homey.

After my aunt on Capitol Hill passed away, my daughter was housesitting while my cousin who lives in CA made arrangements to prepare the house for sale. In that process, while my daughter was out of town, my cousin visited Seattle and mistakenly sold some of the house plants that belonged to my daughter to Matt. They were plants that were very dear to my daughter, so I went to Matt to recover them the day after. Matt told me he’d already sold them to some friends. I asked him to whom they were sold so that I could recover them. Matt was uninterested in helping me recover them. Not credible, not helpful, not even empathetic: I will never do business with this establishment.
