We took the blue line metro to visit Alexandria, and see if we could find some souvenirs. What we found was King Street. This was a delightful stretch of about 8-9 blocks that had stores and restaurants to visit. As we got closer to the Potomac they had the street closed off , so the restaurants could have distant seating. We found everything we were looking for and then some. :)
