Shopped around all the DMV including jewelers in DC. This is the best place in the DMV to get a fair spot price to sell gold and silver. Other businesses in DC would only accept 100oz of silver, this is the best place to go for any amount of selling.

I sold some Silver today, and I heard about this company in 2013, but today was my first time doing business with them. And I came away very impressed, the lady (sorry I don’t remember her name) was fair with my pricing, honest, and to the point. I was very happy doing business with them.

I called Alexandria Gold and Silver before visiting and was told they pay up to 90% depending on gold purity. When I went last week, I was offered 86% payout for my 22k jewelry, and the market rate at that time was around $113 per gram. When I returned this week to finalize the sale, the manager evaluated my items and said they never pay above 80%, regardless of purity. She offered to pay only $1 more per gram than last week’s offer, even though the market rate today was around $130 per gram — a much higher value. I also had some 24k jewelry, but she said it “doesn’t matter” since they melt everything together and would only pay as 22k. She even mentioned that she doesn’t pay more because “some people bring stolen jewelry,” which felt inappropriate and unprofessional to say to a customer. To make things more confusing, she called the employee who had previously offered me 86%, and told me that offer “shouldn’t have been given” because it was supposedly only for people who sell gold as a business. I left feeling pressured and uncertain, and ended up selling only part of my jewelry. In the end, I lost around $800 because of the inconsistent pricing and misinformation. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience. The pricing was misleading, and the communication was confusing and unprofessional. I would not recommend Alexandria Gold and Silver.
