I was looking for a particular coin, a Tyrian shekel, because of my interest in history in general and a coin of the Bible in particular. I’m not a coin collector and had never done this before. Scanning the web I came across Austin Rare Coins. Because their site was interesting, informative, and well constructed (and included images of historical coins and shekels in particular) I called the contact phone number and reached Mr. Stephen Babcock. Stephen was very courteous and professional and patiently listened to my requests. He answered all of my questions and concerns while helping me to understand the intricacies of my search and the coin collecting market in general. He was able to find me an excellent example of the coin I was looking for while making the whole experience of the purchase very enjoyable. He impressed me with his knowledge and understanding throughout the whole process. He evidenced a genuine concern for helping me to acquire the right coin for my needs. I would recommend Austin Rare Coins in general, and Mr. Babcock in particular, to anyone interested in purchasing a coin to start, or add to, their collection.

My wife and I have enjoyed a number of great purchases at ARCI over the years. I am writing regarding my latest to express appreciation for Stephen Babcock as our sales representative. He was able to quickly locate opportunities for rare years to complete our set, and was attentive to our budget. Stephen's professional assessment of the appearances of individual offerings was very helpful in understanding the products and prices. He was also able to navigate some issues we had with delivery, and was often in communication by phone. The items are just beautiful and Stephen ensured the whole experience was just great, and a credit to ARCI. These are the reasons we come back.

This is a very reputable dealer of high quality ancient coins. The coin I received, a Septimius Severus was everything as advertised and very well presented and graded. The reason I reluctantly rated them a 3 was the service. I sent 2 emails and made 3 calls and no one has gotten back to me. I had one interaction with a live person who was not at all helpful, if not a bit condescending. If the company can work this out, it would be one of the best I gave dealt with.
