0The store was in disarray being in the middle of a seasonal floor layout. Was disappointed in the lack of selection for baby shower party favors

Lots of crafts but way more expensive than I remember

Literally has a sign on the front window that says “fabric is here!” But I walked around the store 3 times, finally asked a worker where the fabric was. It was one aisle, no wonder I missed it. Wasn’t even both sides of the aisle, and the side of the aisle it was probably half full. They really only had basic patterned cottons, maybe a couple other things, but nothing even seasonal (at least for the current season). A lot of other areas seemed pretty sparse, too. But I’m mostly upset about the fabric since there’s literally a sign on the store advertising it.
The assistance I received from the older woman was amazing and very pleasant. Regrettably, I did not manage to catch her name. The store has an amazing selection of everything!
This store is not worth going to. It's always dirty, unkempt, and the staff sux. Nevermind trying to get "friendly" service. And lately, I've tried for a week now to get someone on the phone to ask about a room for a painting event and I've gotten 13 "Can you hold" before I even get a chance to speak and 10 hangup. Not ONE phone call has been answered. I'll go to HL from now on. You can keep your cheap crafts.
With sympathy, this store is one of the most severely understaffed Michael's that I have ever seen. I went in tonight for a couple of small sketchbooks. How they managed to get their christmas stock out must have been a christmas miracle, as around the store things were flung into various places. Boxes of stuff unpacked. Aisles upon aisles just straight up empty. Merchandise dumped in corners of the store not put away. They even still had some of their summer lineup out, which considering the season, they should have pushed out by now. I was hoping to browse through their clearance event, and aside from the christmas stuff at the front of the store, theres nothing. Compared to the other Michael's I have been to, the selection at this store is not great. And thats probably due to the fact that they just dont have the people to push stock out. At least I hope thats the issue. I was briefly here back in August, and the store was just as bad then. I did eventually find the specific sketchbooks I was looking for, but they were very few and not in the colors I had hoped for. (Nothing a crafty artist cant fix of course) But until the employees/corporate can get the store properly running, I definitely wont be back to this location.
It has not even been a full week and the service at this Michaels location is still disappointing. First visit Last Sunday I went into the Michaels at Dorman Centre in Spartanburg. I had some questions about an item since I do not shop at this location or particular store often. I noticed an employee nearby putting out merchandise, so I said “Excuse me.” At first she did not respond. I repeated myself, this time in an even more gentle but polite voice. She finally turned to me and said “What?” with an irritated look, like I was bothering her. That interaction made me uncomfortable and I ended up leaving without finding what I needed. Second visit A few days later I decided to give the store another try since the item I was looking for showed up as in stock online. The moment I walked in, there was no greeting, no eye contact, no sense of welcome. I found one item on my own, but when I needed help finding another, I had to wait for the employees to finish their conversation at the front of the store. I finally saw one employee away from the bunch. I asked her for help for what I was needing , she walked ahead of me quickly to point out a general area that might help. Her attitude felt dismissive, like she really did not want to be bothered. Eventually I found something that might work. I could have used self checkout, but I had a question about whether the item could be returned. While waiting in line, I noticed the cashier was having a friendly and helpful conversation with the customer before me. That customer even thanked her for being so helpful, which stood out to me because I had not received any help like that. When it was finally my turn, I asked if I could return the item if it didn’t work. The answer was delivered in a sarcastic and condescending tone: “As long as it is in a returnable condition and can be resold.” Then she gave me a whole demonstration of how to open the package properly. That might have been fine if it had been said in a better way, but after two poor experiences in less than a week, the tone and delivery just added to the frustration. Final thoughts I really tried to give this store a fair chance, but both times I was met with cold, dismissive service. The difference in how some customers are treated compared to others is obvious. If you are looking for a place where the staff is welcoming and willing to help, this location may not be it.
