I went to determine the worth of my vintage coin collection, most of which are pennies, only to find out pennies are not accepted there and that all other coins are face-value. Also the clerk/ owner (if not the same person) stated that they're planning to retire soon. Potentially in a few months or so.

To be clear I’ve got ZERO affiliation with this business. However strictly as a CUSTOMER I have very happy over the past 16 years I’ve dealt with them. I recently recommended them to someone else, without hesitation. And then curiosity got best of me, so I went to check reviews. (Plus I was bored) I read through all reviews. Anyone that has taken the time to “flame” this business has anger issues or is childish. Don’t pay attention to trolls. It is clear by businesses responses that they are particularly aggrieved individuals, lashing out from anger. Don’t believe Da Hype! My dozen plus interactions with David were always great.

I cannot say enough good things about David, the owner of New England Coin Exchange. From the very first phone call, I knew I was in good hands. I explained my situation that I would be flying all the way up from Florida to Rhode Island specifically to sell silver and David was upfront, transparent, and incredibly fair. He gave me a strong price range while clearly explaining how market fluctuations work, which I respected. After calling every dealer in Rhode Island, it was obvious: David was paying the highest price by far. Then everything that could go wrong… did. My flights were delayed due to a major winter storm, and the very night I arrived, refineries nationwide shut down and stopped accepting precious metals, especially silver, due to massive backlogs and extreme market volatility. David sincerely apologized and explained that he was no longer able to buy silver at that time. At that point, I was stuck. I had a significant amount of silver, personal debts that required selling, and every other place I called was either not buying at all or offering half the price per ounce. This is where David showed his true character. Instead of walking away, he reached out to a personal buyer he trusted and personally connected us. The deal went through smoothly, and the buyer was one of the kindest, most genuine people I’ve met. David didn’t have to do any of that, he gained nothing from it, but he did it anyway, simply to help a stranger in a stressful situation. That level of honesty, integrity, and customer service is incredibly rare. David’s transparency with pricing, his willingness to let a sale go elsewhere, and his genuine concern for people prove that New England Coin Exchange operates at a level far above the rest. If you are buying or selling precious metals or coins, do yourself a favor and call David first. Honestly, he’s the only option and incomparable to anyone else in Rhode Island or all of New England. Highly, highly recommended. Thank You David!

David McConaughey is the owner and he gives the best prices for precious metals of anywhere in New England and anywhere online. Fair And incredible Buy prices. I’ve been there many times and many many many times he paid only 3% below a spot price. Compare that to anyone else anyone else if you can find somebody who pays at least 90% of spot price is the best you’re ever gonna find David has sold everything you can visit him by appointment only and in the summer he’s moving to Florida and for retired people like me on a fixed income, he’s gonna be sorely missed.
