The first two times I shopped here the owner was very nice and helpful. In fact on the second visit we exchanged chit chat about about our lives (it’s family owned) and that’s when things got odd. I mentioned that years ago I used to be a missionary, the owner, John, asked me if I was still a Christian, and I said not any more, and he said, that’s too bad. I bought a couple of coins and left. On my third and final visit I entered the store and John is loudly talking with a customer about Jesus and how he likes to email local officials he disagrees with, scriptures. Ten minutes pass and I still haven’t been greeted. The conversation has evolved into fringe gun control politics, and then they get into the COVID-19 and the mask mandate. Then John practically demanded the customers, a father and son, remove their masks and continue shopping without them, which they did. I left after that. If you do go, they have some cool stuff and admittedly, are quite helpful, but keep the conversation casual and keep your mask on. There’s no air-flow in that building and most of the family is old and won’t wear a mask.

Rude guy, bad energy. Went in with 200 Morgan and Peace dollars, they weren't interested in taking the time to evaluate them. 'You can sort them yourself into piles and then if you want to sell we can give you a price'. This doesn't work, you're going to disagree with how I have sorted them since we aren't using the same standards and then we are going to have to resort them together anyhow and discuss. You save no one time this way... Their price sheet offered $10 for average Morgans, lowest I have ever heard. You'll get a higher price elsewhere, for sure, was quoted $20 yesterday from a private collector here in Portland. Sold over 14k worth of coins and never had a buyer say that 'you sort them and if you want to sell them we will tell you how much we'd offer.' Usually they talk with you and establish rapport, do a walkthrough together and you negotiate price. They evaluate, offer price, seller decides. I would not return here, he walked away from the table mid conversation. Arrogant, egoist. Clearly better things to do than work with a smaller scale coin collector. I worry about the older folks or newbies John rips off offering them 1/3 of the price for their goods, taking advantage of their lack of knowledge. Called the other place up on Powell, very friendly, better energy and they have a 4.9 rating as opposed to John's much lower rating....note, they offer about 3 times as much as John was offering for the same coins. Yes, 3 times as much. Go elsewhere or sell to a private party, these folks are simply too busy and have absurdly low prices for you. A joke. Read all the reviews here, you are going to see themes of rudeness, low balling, and disrespect. Pay attention to these...

Went in today to sell a Gold Canadian Dollar. John (owner) was busy with another customer and immediately got his assistant to help me. I spent a pleasant 10 minutes talking with this gentleman who showed John the coin, got a very fair and reasonable offer (NY spot closing price minus about 5%) and a check was written. I have used this business about 3 times over the last 10 years and I have never had less than a pleasurable and professional experience. I don't understand some of the previous negative comments other than they thought the value of their property was worth more, ie unrealistic expectations.

I called a couple days ago, mentioning that I had some Proof and Uncirculated sets from when I was younger. The man mentioned that sets before 1964 were of interest given the silver content. When I went in today, the man was busy talking with another man behind the counter. While he got up and greeted me straight away, however when he saw what I had, his interest disappeared and I was told that they have more of these items than they can sell. I should have mentioned the previous days conversation but instead I picked up my items and left. I went to Portland Precious Metals and Coin and was treated fairly. I sold nearly everything and came home happy and satisfied, having been treated with respect and feeling valued as a customer.

I have gone into the store numerous times to sell silver. I have always been met with curtesy and respect. Even though I have not been a big $ customer, the owner has always been friendly and very responsive! Great place!!
