I had a great experience here the first three times. On my fourth visit I chose all items from the $10 bin. The salesman checked behind my count and did not let me know any of the items were over $10 so I assumed I had too many by mistake (beyond 40). I called the store and they offered to refund everything but I do not live close to the store. Although I was told on the phone after the fact that it was a deal as it was below their going rate for 90%, I did pay over their rate from today at about 42.2x face. I liked this business a lot and it will be hard for me to think about visiting again.

Doc took his time to look over a coin book I had, made a fair offer and walked to my car afterward. Very professional. Would recommend

I’d like to offer an apology to those whose critical reviews I may have previously overlooked or questioned. Looking back, I can now see how some individuals might have felt overlooked or not fully appreciated during their experience . After one such encounter (1881-CC in store) and another interaction (phone call/email) of our own (wife had been present for both) I feel it’s only right to be transparent. I should not have lambasted nor singled out those critical reviews in defense of the business and its primary stakeholder. I believe in sharing genuine experiences so others can make their own well-informed choices. I regret having mitigated the impact of their difficult experiences.

Had a nice experience with Doc today, during my first visit to Rare Coins of Raleigh. I brought in 3 coins, 2 of which I knew nothing about, and he gave me all the information I was looking for, plus some useful advice. In the end he bought 2 of them, and I'm happy with how it turned out.

Brian was great, I came in short notice on a Saturday with a coin collection and he still made time to look through my collection. He offered me a nice amount , one part of the collection he offered almost double then a local coin business. He didn’t pressure me in any way to sell my coins and even did suggest I hold on to them longer if I didn’t want to part ways right now so they can continue to increase in value. Great customer service and very knowledgeable. He answered all my our questions.

I took a bag full of random coins that have been collected in my family over the years and they were so helpful! They went through everything told me what everything was, answered every question that I had, it was quick and easy. Really nice folks working in there! Highly recommend!
