Great Place

Came in late on a Saturday to get a loan for some last minute expenses I needed to pay before my paycheck came the next week. So I brought in a gibson electric guitar, thinking I’d have no problem getting a loan for 3-400 quick and easy, and be on my way. I have pawned, sold and bought guitars at various shops my whole life. There’s no reason to think otherwise. Well the fellow at the register examined my sg standard, and began to reference some eBay listings of Chinese replicas being sold for less than 300, stating it looks like the guitar. When I tried to let him know that those are what we in the guitar community call “chibsons”, and that with a deeper examination of the listings, those were clearly not the same guitar. He wouldn’t read descriptions, he had no interest in the information I displayed from Reverb showing the true value of the guitar, he was firmly planted on “it looks like the picture”. I looked at the pictures he was referencing, they were only thumbnails. He wouldn’t even open the complete listing. All in all I see someone unwilling to do an honest transaction for one reason or another, as this gentleman is not new to the business and would absolutely know what a Gibson electric guitar is. I have a big problem with that. I will not patronize a business with a dishonest and disrespectful frontline.

I purchased a used gun here in June 2024. At checkout, I asked if they had the original case with the accessories and was told no, which is what I expected. Last weekend I received a call from the business and they had located the case and wanted to ship it to me at no cost. They could’ve just thrown it away, but they went above and beyond. If you go here and have a problem, you are more than likely the problem. Support local.

I recently moved to the Wilmington area and was looking for a gun store to which I would send a gun purchased online. I homed in on Jim's Pawn and Guns due to the proximity of my new home in Leland. Despite, what appeared to be many nasty reviews regarding treatment by store personnel, I decided that shipping the gun and them picking it up would be simple "come and get it" trip. I did that trip today. I have been in many gun stores in my adulthood and by far the folks there today were the BEST I have ever encountered. The gun delivery went smooth as glass, the price was right and while waiting, my brother and I had the chance to chat with the five store personnel. To a man, all were cheerful, helpful and knowledgeable. We had a half an hour wait for my gun and me to clear North Carolina regs and it was great talking to all of them. The store itself was a populated with just about any kind of gun one might want or need. I will, for sure, make Jim's Pawn and guns my new location for items in the gun/ammunition arena. Greg

I liked this place until I didn’t, I have been in this shop multiple times and after my most recent visit I will not be going back. If you bring a firearm unloaded in a case and locked they will treat you like a criminal. Employee immediately tried to snatch the guns out of my hands. Then proceeded to make smart ass comments about how most people don’t bring them unloaded. They basically acted like I have no idea how to handle my own firearm. On top of that they offered me $200 for a piece for a pair of 1911s I payed over 2k for. If you want to be treated like you know nothing and a criminal go to this shop. A little bit of respect goes a long way. I’ve been to plenty other shops and I have never had an employee walk up to me and try to take my firearms that are in a case. Completely unprofessional and unacceptable. I’ve spent a lot of money in this shop and that ends today

Staff was friendly, engaging most importantly very knowledgeable. Wide selection of firearms. I highly recommend if you are looking to purchase a firearm.
