Been all over the state buying and selling precious metals but this spot is my favorite now. Best to call first or make an appointment and you can be sure you’ll get fair prices and great selection here, highly recommend.

We visited Ann Arbor Coins & Gold today and were very impressed with the staff’s knowledge and professionalism. Even though there were several customers waiting, the two gentlemen worked efficiently together in a very organized and systematic way to assist everyone. We brought in a mix of old stamps, various coins, and some vintage and gold jewelry. Within minutes, they carefully sorted everything and explained what had value versus what was face value or not worth much. While the coins and stamps weren’t as valuable as we had hoped, the vintage jewelry turned out to be worth more than expected. I had been procrastinating on dealing with this collection for quite some time, and in one visit everything was reviewed, explained clearly, and we walked out with cash in hand. I truly appreciated their honesty and learned a lot during the process. Highly recommend!

I went into Ann Arbor Stamps and Coin yesterday after calling the owner about some 14 karat gold jewelry that I haven't worn in decades and wanted to sell. The experience was very unprofessional to say the least. The piece had a 14 karat stamp on it as well. The owner of Ann Arbor Stamps & Coin wanted to do a scratch test to verify the authenticity of the gold. He did it in front of me as I watched him spit saliva from his mouth onto the ceramic piece to clean it. I couldn't believe it. Then he proceeded to rub my gold piece onto the ceramic tile that he just spit on. Gross! I was in shock. He added some chemical to the tile and then told me that the piece is not 14 karat gold and that it may not even be 10 karat gold. When I told them that I had it tested at Lewis Jewelers the day before and they confirmed 14 karat gold, he told me that other places lie. That made no sense. Why would a place lie to make the piece worth more so that they would have to pay more if they bought it? I took my gold piece and left immediately. I drove to Andre's Fine Jewelers in Brighton. They looked at the piece, tested it using a spectrometer and verified that the entire piece was 14 karat gold. They offered me a very fair price for the piece, and I sold it to them on the spot. No, I don't recommend Ann Arbor Stamps & Coins if you have gold to sell.

Ann Arbor’s Coin and Stamps has been consistently unorganized and unwelcoming in my experience. The staff seem uninterested in helping customers. On the other hand, Old Town Coin in Depot Town, Ypsilanti, is just a short drive away—and they’ve always provided excellent service and professionalism.

Ann Arbor Stamps and Coins is an absolute local treasure. I took a large and varied inherited coin “collection” in for evaluation. Two professionals quickly sorted, evaluated, and appraised the coins directly in front of me. It was an amazingly efficient and informative experience. After the evaluation they REFUSED to accept any payment for that valuable service. Two enthusiast thumbs up. If anyone says differently, that person is simply unhappy with him/herself. ✌️❤️

Very cool place. I'm just now getting into ancient coins and starting my collection. I didn't know they do appointment only and I just showed up, and apparently it was even after their usual closing time (5 pm, it was 5:10-ish.) They seemed a little hurried, as can be expected, but they were actually very gracious and took time with me anyways instead of turning me away. I bought a few small pieces from Livonia, told them my coin-collecting plans, and they shared some historical stories about the pieces and gave me advice about one of the auction sites I am following, to make sure I am not getting ripped off. Very knowledgeable and friendly people, seem to have a great supply of coins and related materials, and I'm excited to start building my collection. I will make an appointment and go in during appropriate hours next time lol Pretty sure this is the right place for this stuff.

I have driven by Ann Arbor Stamps & Coins for many years and never really knew what it was. I recently decided to stop in with some silver coins, and I am very glad I did. The place was busy, with a great mix of families, avid collectors, and first-time visitors. The breadth of coins they have is impressive, anything I could think of, they had it. The staff was kind, patient, and very knowledgeable. They took the time to explain things clearly, offered good advice, and ultimately paid a fair price for the coins I brought in. Overall, it was a great experience. I will absolutely be going back.
