0A nice visit during 45 minutes of tour. We can see from the upper galleries the main phases of the minting process, for coins made in gold and silver (everyday coins are minted in Winnipeg). The tour finishes in the boutique where we can buy collectible coins and some artifacts and souvenir in gold, silver and other materials.
The free tour is a small boutique. The setting and staff were wonderful, and there were things to buy. Overall tho it was not very captivating.
Made a visit to the boutique store bought some souvenirs yes a real gold bar on display

What an amazing tour! Quite glad we did it a well worth the admission. The fellow we had doing the tour was personable and knowledgeable. Gave great overviews and shows the process. If we had questions and wanted to get deeper on things (like how it is refined to 5 9s) he gave detailed explanations. Bought the kids a couple 1oz silver investment coins for their souvenir. All in all a great time. No pics from the tour as they werenβt permitted. You should try getting an appointment online - they email you back right away. That said, some people that were visiting the gift shop were able to buy and hop on to the tour while we were there.
Cool info about coins, definitely worth visiting. Wish the ticket was a bit cheaper as our tour ended in less than 50 mins or at least the somehow made it interactive. In europe almost all of the museums are turning into interactive museums instead of only being informative. But i enjoyed it very much.
I had the pleasure of visiting the mint this past weekend for my birthday, & I had an absolutely amazing time. I fell in love with coin collecting earlier this year when I got an advertisement on Instagram for the magic of the northern lights 3oz fine silver coin; so my brother thought it would be a fun excursion to go and do a tour of the mint. It was my second time at the mint, as my elementary school senior trip took us there, but seeing as I was only 13 years old at the time, I didnβt appreciate it nearly as much as I did this weekend. My group had an amazing tour guide named Christopher. He was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, & witty the entire time. He taught us about the machinery, along with some cool fun facts. It was so cool to see the manufacturing machinery for the amazing numismatics that Canada is capable of. All of the staff working in the shop were helpful and friendly as well. Hopefully I can make a trip to Winnipeg one day to check out where they make all of the circulation coins next !!
We only got to go to the boutique store, as I tried getting a ticket for a tour 3 days in advance but they were already sold out. I suggest getting it tickets for the tour at least a week ahead of time. The boutique was nice with friendly staff.
Iβve visited the Royal Canadian Mint many times over the years, and itβs always been an enjoyable experience. The building itself is impressive, but the real highlight is how much you can learn about the craftsmanship behind Canadaβs coins. The tours are well done β clear, informative, and easy to follow β and you get a real sense of the precision and care that goes into minting. The displays are interesting whether youβre a casual visitor or someone who enjoys the history and design behind currency. Iβve picked up a few coins here as well, and the quality never disappoints. Itβs a great place to explore if youβre into collectibles, Canadian history, or just want a unique stop in Ottawa. Always a good visit.
