I brought 10 Morgan silver dollars to this business for an appraisal and to possibly sell them. The gentleman (a balding man) glanced over all coins in about ten seconds, then offered me $40 each for them. I pointed out that the silver content alone had a spot/melt value of around $75 per coin, to which he and the woman with him started rambling about “numismatic value” to justify their low offer. After some back-and-forth, he raised the offer to $50 each—still the lowest price by far among the five coin shops I visited that day. He then claimed my coins had been “cleaned,” citing how “the sunlight refracted” when the coins were tilted—an explanation that, frankly, didn’t hold up. This claim was completely incorrect. Every one of the other coin dealers I spoke to confirmed that the coins had not been cleaned, which I already knew since they came from an unbroken bank roll dating back to the early 1950s. Their most egregious act was failing mention that FOUR of the coins were minted in Carson City and two in San Francisco, which increases the value of the coins significantly. Any honest dealer would have pointed this out, but I'm talking about Fair Oaks Con and Bologna! Shameful. Please see the photos of a few of the coins they “appraised” below. Draw your own conclusions. Can't wait to see how many fake reviews get posted about how 'fair and honest' these swindlers are!

Came in to sell my silver coin. The guy upfront had great customer service and taught me a little more about silver coins because I got one as a tip. Definitely a nice shop.

BUYERS BEWARE! be sure you know the product you are going to purchase here! They love to take advantage of people who are unaware. I came in to purchase a Silver Eagle as an xmas present for a family member who actively collects them. I called before coming in. Over the phone the price was 72 50. I get there and now the price is 73.50! PLUS TAX! I walked out paying 79.26 for a Silver Eagle in which I learned is not a taxable purchase... Basically after having this conversation with my collector family member today, He told me this is why he does not buy gold or silver from this location because hes been over charged by them before. All I suggest is know the purchase so you can walk out and visit the shop down the road that doesn't over charge! Just a Warning. Take heed!

I took 3 gold eagles to them when the gold prices were roughly 3600. They paid me spot price for the gold eagles zero issues zero hesitation. I have never been to a gold or coin shop and honestly thought that these places were all kind of seedy/un-trustworthy. This place proved me wrong. I walked in and it was a bit dim, but then again the contrast from how bright it was outside probably didn't help. They immediately greeted me with a smile and asked how they could help. I showed them the three gold eagles I had. I also asked them to evaluate a Cuban link chain I have (8mm, solid gold 14k 22") Their offer was fair but I was just curious, not actually trying to sell my chain. They wrote me a check for the eagles and I deposited it to my bank no issues and the check cleared within a day. I highly recommend you take any gold coins here - you will get spot quickly with no hesitation and gold prices are incredible! By the way yes I know spot for gold is 4000 an ounce now, I sold it to them when it was 3600. So no, they did not rip me off (if you're actually reading my receipt) and they won't rip you off either!

These people are extremely honorable. I decided I was going to give some silver to my grandchildren for Christmas. Even though the market was volatile, and the person helping me and others recognized the price would likely increase in the coming days, they did not gouge me or ask for a higher price. When dealing in business, I look for honesty and honorable conduct. These people have that in spades. They are now my go to for metal exchanges. Check them out if you want fair dealings.

Fair Oaks Coin and Bullion should honestly be called Honest Coin and Bullion. They consistently offer the best prices for gold and carry a great selection of quality jewelry. I’ve visited gold and coin shops all across California and even into Vegas, and none of them come close to the customer service here. One time I had my dog with me and couldn’t leave her in the car. The owner actually came outside to help me. That level of kindness and personal attention is rare. If you’re selling coins, gold, silverware, or any other precious metals, always get a second opinion — and make sure it’s from this place. They’re the real deal. Highly recommend.
