Today, I went in to sell some silver (2022 phoenix and 1976 biennial commemorative set), about two ounces total. I was offered 60 for the pure ounce- that’s reasonable. But he didn’t have a way to assess the purity of the thick capsules without breaking them apart. Asked if he could, and I said sure. So not only did he destroy the value of the commemorative set, but also only offered $21 for it ($1.75 face at 80% =1.05 ozt). Fair for pure silver, ripoff for less than pure. But he was open New Year’s Day and I’m grateful for that.

I feel incredibly lucky to have met the owners of this store. I went in with some trepidation. My interaction with other shops had left me with a less than favorable opinion of the trade. All of my negative feelings were swept away 30 seconds later when the man behind the counter let me know that what I had was higher quality than what I had told them i had. He chose to be transparent, rather than staying quiet. They are honest, fair, trustworthy, savvy, incredibly welcoming, and with a huge amount of integrity. Tried taking some silver in here(the price of silver is $76 per oz and they offered me $50 per oz lol. So I went else where. I understand they want to make money but $26 off spot price is ridiculous. He then tried to offer me $60 but that is also too low.
