Guy was a grade A jerk. Very rude and borderline disrespectful. Avoid this place !!!

went into the store today, I was introduced with a rude greeting, I brought in some coins to get appraised that have already been appraised and I wanted a different opinion. He immediately started by giving his appraisal fee and told me he doesn't want to waste his time looking through coins ( his job ), (even though I have the coins already separated and labeled) so I turned around and headed out of the store and I will never return.

My son was very excited to visit this store as he has old coins that he has collected over the years and some that have been given to him by my father. The owner hardly looked up from his paper that he was reading to look us up and down. Our son found a few coins that he was interested in. While my son and his dad were looking, I thought I'd make small talk about a Colombian shipwreck that was being excavated that carried a fortune of $17 billion on board on its way to fund the War of the Spanish Succession. The owner raised his hands as if saying "don't shoot" to say, "a hundred shipwrecks are excavated every day. I don't keep up with them all. They don't affect my business." My husband and I looked at each other and knew it was time to go. I would not recommend visiting this shop if this guy is the face/owner. Take your business somewhere else to places that welcome average Joes with a few bills in their pockets to spend.

Had a day in Scottsdale before I had to fly home to Ohio. Came in and talked coins and ancient history for a little bit with Al. I have a strong interest in ancient Greek and Macedonian time periods, and he knew his stuff. It's cash only so I said I'd be back after lunch (and ATM trip) to buy a cool Byzantine follis. I came back that afternoon while I had free time and he had gotten out a couple really awesome ancient Macedonian coins, along with the reference book for both those and the follis. We sat and talked about history for over an hour. Al is such a personable guy and really loves history. He said "the coins are the time travelers, we are just the caretakers." The man has a commanding knowledge of history, especially in relation to numismatics. I spent about $200 on three beautiful pieces of ancient history. I hope to be back soon. It was a highlight of my weeklong trip to Arizona

I am not sure why all the negative reviews, but Al was great!! This was the one coin shop in the valley I could find who was interested in and able to identify my ancient coins. Al took great time and care going through my coins. He is so incredibly knowledgeable, even identifying some of my coins as Turkish from the 1800s! He was kind, polite, and fun to talk to. Would absolutely recommend, and will be going there exclusively for anything else I need.

Disapointing, The business hours said in the window that they are open at 10:00. Waiting out side then the person comes 30 minuets later and unlocks the door to let himself in. Waiting 15 mins more to give him time to get set up for the day and the door is still locked. Which it looked like the guy did not want my business. ----- Ok two weeks later AND the situation from before has not improved. P Arrived at the store where it says in the window open at 10:00. To only to be greeted with a locked door and lights out at 10:15am I guess for a coin shop that he doesnt like money. When you have an opening time posted that means that should open on time ready to business at that moment - not when you feel like your good and ready and feel like unlocking the door. What a waist of time!!! The person can be seen inside the shop messing around with something in the case with no regards to that there is a customer waiting. Now it is aproaching 11:00am Still very disapointing and totally unaceptable!!!!!!! This Republic Rare Coins has lost my business FOR EVER!!!!!! Buy your coins on EBAY or some other dealer that values your business
