Rodeway Inn Phenix City - Columbus

If I didn't have to leave a star I wouldn't these people lie and take your deposit I wouldn't go to this hotel the staff is rude and the stairs are broke

When checking in, the fella at the desk kept talking about no smoking over and over and if you do smoke to go outside (which is understandable) and make sure the room door is closed . He said I don't smoke and I can smell smoke on y'all. He gave us the key and started giving the spill again which was kinda suspicious but ok then. Walked up the stairs and seen 3 steps chipped, broke and wobbly, which I almost fell through one of them... Parking lot had "activity" going on throughout the night and my car alarm went off at one point... Let's fast forward to check out. Go to hand key to the lady at front desk and she said she had to check the room, she left to check the room and came back and said I can't give deposit back because the room smells like smoke, I even smelled it 3 times.. yeahhh ok ( now remember there was never any smoking in room, went outside 2 times and both of which went down to vehicle. Husband looked at her and said so you lied, knew something was up with the way the guy was acting last night...we then called Expedia who called the hotel directly which I was quietly on the line. The lady at front desk told Expedia that she smelled smoke on us when we walked in to check out. Expedia then said I want you to prove to me they smoked in the room. The front desk lady said umm umm I can't but they're not getting their deposit back either way and hung up the line.. see it's not about the lousy $50 they wanted it's the fact of theft by deception

The front desk lady deserves a promotion and endless recognition! She’s the kind of person who completely changes your day the moment you walk in kind, patient, professional, and genuinely caring. You can tell she loves what she does and goes above and beyond for everyone. People like her are rare she’s the heart of this place and absolutely deserves to be noticed for it.

Great interaction with staff. Hot water was hot, furnace worked fine. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The only thing keeping me from giving five stars was no protein on the breakfast. No eggs, sausage, bacon, etc. Don't get me wrong, there was plenty to eat. The pancakes were fine and I had a banana with some cold cereal. The juices and coffee were fine also. I didn't partake in the grits or honey bun. Overall, this was a very pleasant stay. And I'm glad I picked this Roadway Inn Vs some of the other places that I could have gone. I would stay here again.
