Simple, straight to the point transaction selling some silver quarters today. I had some other wheats/libertys/buffalos and whatnot but these guys were straight forward on what they were willing to buy from my collection and honestly I respect that. They gave me a fair deal too for the silver. I’ll definitely be back. Thanks fellas!

We have completed multiple transactions with Family Coin & Jewelry over many years. They are a definite 5 Star business. The products are always high quality precious metals, coins, and currency at super competitive prices.

I visited today hoping to pick up a few 1 oz American Silver Eagles, but the pricing is significantly higher than market standards. With silver spot at $85.19 and typical premiums around $6, I was shocked to be quoted $120 ($34 over spot). While this location is convenient, the markup isn't justifiable. Based on previous reviews, I expect a defensive response, but I’m sharing this to help others. You’ll find much fairer prices at Big Bear or Yesterday’s Change.

It's a nice coin store. Ed was friendly and professional and answered my questions. I thought the premium they charge on silver was reasonable, as was the rate for which they buy it. I traded some 90% silver American coins for some .999 fine silver world coins and a bit of cash. It's always a privilege to be able to sell and trade things. They have a display case full of cool looking old bank notes!

An Honest and Trustworthy Coin Shop I can't recommend Family Coin enough. I've been a loyal customer for close to 10 years, and for good reason. My first experience with them truly highlighted their integrity. I had a gold bracelet with a foreign stamp that a competitor near "Area 51 on Midlo" priced at just $65, claiming it was a gold mix. Skeptical, I took it to Family Coin. They immediately tested it and determined it was 18k pure gold, handing me $320 on the spot—nearly five times the initial offer. The owner was also incredibly knowledgeable, sharing some history on the piece, explaining it was a vintage Middle Eastern item, and even mentioned I could get more than melt value if I wanted to sell it online. Ever since, they've been my go-to. I've even tried other places, including one in Ashland, only to be met with lowball offers and dishonest practices. I now make the drive and pay the tolls to come back to Family Coin because I trust them completely. As a former business owner myself with some knowledge of the precious metals industry, I know that reputation and honesty are everything. In a business where margins can be tight, it's clear that their priority is building trust with their customers. They are an honest, trusted, and sincere business, and I don't recommend anyone else in the RVA area. The negative reviews you see are likely from people who don't understand that not every old item has significant value, and they get upset when faced with reality. Family Coin is the real deal.
