Do not recommend selling gold or gems here. The guy never showed the weight of my items and told me that diamonds aren't worth anything only the weight of the gold that they were attached to. I always thought diamonds were worth money but not according to him. Very shady. Over 700 dollars worth of jewelry new, he only gave me 30 dollars. Too bad I was in a pinch for money
The man that was working was friendly, but I honestly would not recommend coming here to sell your gold. He seemed confident (kinda deceiving) in what he was saying and shot down my own research about the gold I brought him. I don’t know if he was lying about it or just not being fair, but I later learned from another gold buyer that he wasn’t fair. He low-balled us, which technically isn’t his fault but mine bc he’s trying to make business. I went to another shop that gave me the true price, or at least a better price, on the gold pieces we sold here. They had no knowledge of the pricing or where I had sold the gold at to be influenced on their answer. I’m glad I didn’t sell the rest of the pieces that I had to him. I would not recommend going here if you want a true, honest, and fair deal
Bought some silver coins, bars and rounds here a few times the last few months and I must say, not bad at all. He's got some interesting hard-to-find things as well as the more popular coins and rounds and bars. His prices are competitive. I plan on going back a lot more in the future. I just moved to Johnstown six months ago and am an avid gold and silver coin, bar and round collector.
Wasn't sure what to expect, I've never taken anything to a shop to sell. It was a great experience. I was shocked on the value given of stuff I took in, very pleased with the outcome.
I sold a couple white gold figaro chains. They were 10kt white gold, about 8 grams, 20 and 22 inches. I was quoted about 250 for the both of them. With the market price of 10 kt gold at the time and the weight; I accepted. It was a fair price and I was happy with the transaction. I would recommend Hometown Gold Buyers, if you’re interested in making a few extra dollars from your old gold. They’ll give you a good, fair price.
