I don't see how I can add much to the other glowing reviews. Suffice it to say that anyone with a general interest in prospecting, metal detecting or rock hounding will enjoy a visit to the store and no doubt you will learn something new, as I did, and be inspired. The proprietor is good with kids too and he was exceptionally helpful even though our group didn't know what we were looking for or even the right questions to ask. We left there excited to return. I wanted to start gold panning. I am so glad I came here. Dan was very friendly and took time to answer my questions about sluice boxes and gold pans. He showed me the newest metal detectors. I got a bag of paydirt and found my first real gold. If you are interested in gold prospecting, this is the place to go. He said I can order online and he will ship to me if I need something too. This place is great!

As a mining engineer with 20 years of experience in mining and mineral processing, and currently working for Mineral Technologies, a global leader in fine physical separation technologies, I’m rarely surprised by a retail store visit. Prospector’s Treasure Trove was a genuine exception. Dan welcomed my teammate and me with outstanding hospitality and an obvious passion for gold mining and prospecting. His metallurgical knowledge is excellent, and what impressed me most was his ability to explain gravity and magnetic separation concepts clearly at a non technical level. That is not easy to do, and he does it as well as anyone I’ve come across in the mining industry. Beyond the technical knowledge, Dan’s enthusiasm for sharing the craft really stands out. He is deeply engaged in the local prospecting community and actively works with youth and scout groups, taking them gold prospecting and helping spark an early interest in geology, mining, and the outdoors. That level of community involvement and mentorship is rare and commendable. The shop itself is equally impressive, with an attached classroom and clean up area that provides a hands on learning environment for both beginners and experienced prospectors. Dan’s willingness to spend time answering questions and walking through concepts speaks volumes about his commitment to education, service, and customer experience. As a bonus, I came home with gold pans for my kids and an awesome little prospector Christmas ornament they absolutely loved.
