UPDATE IN RESPONSE TO THE RESPONSE I HAVE RECEIVED: I would love to accept that this was a matter of "things happen", as I am very clear on how to read a room I am in, while making note that I walked in a half hour before closing. However, I find it jarring (as you should see on your camera's, and hear in your audio) that the worker/cashier was upbeat, informative, giggly, and fully engaged in convo with the group that literally left less than 5 minutes after we walked in. I did not "feel as if I was ignored", I WAS ignored. I'm still trying to process how staring at phone orders, less than a few minutes after providing full customer service to the previous patrons (if that was the case), overrode a simple "Hi, how may I help you?".
Yesterday 1/24/26 around 5:32PM, less than a half hour before closing, I had a terrible customer service experience, but I want to be clear about the reason behind my disappointment. In March of 2021, I stumbled across this establishment looking for a unique gift for my cousins birthday who is a collector of oddities himself. I started with a bear skull which I initially purchased (pictured) to have it sent to his home in CA, but staff ended up finding out it was illegal to ship, and so we pivoted. I am glad we did, because I ended up buying this BEAUTIFUL gazelle skull (pictured), dinosaur card (pictured), and a paperweight of sorts that encased different variations of real wasps/hornets (not pictured). He loved the gifts so much, that he ended up hanging the gazelle skull in his new restaurant (pictured). The staff then, were so warm, accommodating, and perfect at helping me navigate through the new and interesting space. I ended up moving from OH to MI 4 years ago, and came in town over the weekend in hopes of slowly building a box of oddities to gift him for his 40th B-day in April of this year.
So imagine my frustration when my partner and I walked into Cleveland Curiosities to not be greeted or talked to at ANY POINT. When we walked in, the Caucasian bluish haired female in all black with a black hat was chatting and giggling with 3-4 Caucasian customers who were there as a group. Although we did not get an initial acknowledgement walking in, I chalked it up to her making the initial customers a priority. This place is small on the entrance side, so you absolutely could not mistake a woman next to a 6 foot 3 man walking in and looking around.
When the group left, we both turned to the desk to look at her. I was immediately interested in a few posters, and a microscope to start. With the understanding that we walked in a half hour before close, I was not going to do a deep dive, but wanted to look around to see what I wanted to grab when I came back in town 2 weeks from now. She never looked up. Kept her face in her phone. I must stress again, that the entrance side is small, and the floors are wooden and creaky. She KNEW we were there, and didn't care. My partner and I looked at one another, and I even said "Well I guess we will leave then".......she still never looked up from her phone. We were so close to her. We moved to the door, I looked back.....she was still in her phone. We left. I was so genuinely excited to be back in that space, to show my partner all of the amazing odds and ends in such a cozy space, but I assure you I will never step foot in that establishment ever again.

I've visited a handful of times and I always find something that I love, but then this last time I went in I saw this red ceramic lion and HAD to take it home with me. I don't know why I felt like I needed it, but I love it and I'm so glad I stopped in that day.
The staff were so friendly, and I'm sure they're used to having people come in and do a few loops around the store - it's just not possible to see everything in that first pass. Such a cool place, definitely check them out!
I had the pleasure of visiting this shop for my birthday after longing for a visit for several months. First off, there are SO MANY items to see. The walls, cabinets, and surfaces all have amazing products. My advice is to take your time browsing if oddities are what youβre into or else you might miss something. I had the pleasure of meeting a staff member (wish I remembered her name) who was extremely knowledgeable about the Radium girls and the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory tragedy. She was so kind, attentive, and helpful. She took the time to show me various mortuary tools they had in stock after voicing my interest in them. That employee additionally showed me her frogs and educated me on them which I LOVED. There are so many things to appreciate here. Visiting this store made my birthday trip so worth it. Friendly staff, excellent variety of items, and amazing genuine specimens. 10/10. Cannot wait to visit again and clear out some of their wishlist items for me. If youβre on the fence about visiting, take the plunge. These people are truly incredible and have so many options for all areas of interest. Thank you for making my birthday so worth it. Keep doing what you do!!! :)
LOVE this place. So many wonderful finds and interesting displays. I have been twice and found treasures each time. Staff is AMAZING. So knowledgeable and friendly. I live out of state and always make this a stop when I visit the Cleveland area.
Fantastic store had a lot of fun looking around at all the crazy things inside. My son loves taxidermy, so this was a blast. We walked out with a large-mouth bass. Will definitely come back for more.
Cleveland Curiosities is truly somewhere we stop every time weβre back home visiting. Obviously I know Iβm always gonna find a treasure or two, but truly have never met kinder people than the folks who run this shop! Even if you arenβt interested in bringing something home with you, I highly suggest checking it out for the βnot for saleβ items alone. There is so much cool and weird history packed into this place, and I always walk away having learned something new. They have an answer to any question you might have and are so incredibly easy to talk to. I would also suggest not blowing through the store. Take some time to really look at all the trinkets theyβve got going onβ¦sometimes the smallest, most mundane looking things turn out to be the most interesting!
I think it is so great to see this business still kickinβ itβ¦feels like a major win for the weird kids! Even if you consider yourself semi-normal, I cannot recommend this place enough. Discover something, learn something, take something home. This is hands down my favorite business to support, they deserve it! Such a passionate team with a building full of wonderful weird shit. Canβt go wrong!
