Several years ago, we inherited an art collection. The collection included over five hundred pieces of artwork from both Eastern European and American artists. (Including but not limited to oils, drawings, lithographs, engravings, and original inks.) Since the collection was not catalogued, we had no idea how to organize it, who some of the artists were and the overall value. We met with Mark Lawson, and he agreed to take on the task of researching the artist for each piece, organizing the collection, and eventually auctioning it for us. He was able to identify each piece and arrange an auction in less than 6 months. We were impressed by the professionalism and attention to detail that he and his staff exhibited. We were also pleased with the first auction in which a majority of the artwork was sold. Subsequently he arranged a second auction in which additional pieces were sold. Finally, with our approval donated the remainder of the artwork to a local charity. We would gladly recommend Mark Lawsons Antiques to anyone seeking appraisals or someone to sell items.

They state that they are a large antique buyer, but one cannot take ones antiques there for cash, one has to email photos. I sent a photo of an 18th Century Spain religious leather binder that was purchased at William Doyle Galleries in NYC many years ago with antique antiphonal, and an antique Asian vase. Lawson recommended a place further away to sell the 18th century leather and never responded about the vase at all even though it is supposedly rare and of unknown metal alloys, and Lawson has it is seeking Asian art on its website. Many of the antique stores I call in the Albany, NY area are closed down. I will never purchase another antique again because of the difficulty of resale. I should be able to resell my antiques the same day for a good price. I may have to go all the way to NYC. Some offer pawn shop prices for antiques in Upstate, NY. I recently sold a pair of 18th Century European portraits that were appraised by Sotheby at $1,500 (fifteen hundred dollars) more than two decades ago. I sold them for a mere for $150 (one hundred fifty dollars) at another Albany antique buyer. I will never purchase antiques again.

Mark Lawson is a scammer. He ripped me off. He bought some antique jewelry from me. One of the pieces was an antique white gold bracelet with tiny diamonds. He paid me for silver!!!! I have memory problems from head, injuries and brain damage so I had forgotten that it was a white gold piece. But later, when I was looking through my paperwork, I saw the insurance estimate which clearly stated this bracelet was white gold. By then it had been over six months since I had met with Mark, and been ripped off by his shady business practices

I am extremely happy that I chose Mark Lawson to help me. He is very professional and up front in an informative way. His knowledge and experience were obvious as he considered each item in my home. Mark was able to help me liquidate many items on the day of the appointment and also gave me a solid plan for the future as I prepare to stage my home for sale.I enjoyed Mark's cordiality and that of his assistant. Communication from the business was excellent throughout the entire process.I would highly recommend Mark!

I contacted Mark Lawson during the time that NY was on pause and even though he was not seeing clients, his assistant checked in with me every couple of weeks by email. How perfect, I didn't feel forgotten and as soon as Mr. Lawson was able to meet with clients an appointment was set up. I met with Mr. Lawson on 6/5/2020 (I'm a bit late in getting this done). I was so amazed with how at ease he made me while looking through the items in this estate. His knowledge of the items and what items are in demand was incredible. I thought he may have been able to purchase more, but everything that he did was helpful to me. He took the time to answer all of my questions. I know in the future I will contact him again. If you are in need of selling items from an estate, contact Mark Lawson they are great people to work with.

12/10/2020 After a few emails back and forth with Alexandra, we made a house call appointment with Mark Lawson to look at some items we were interested in selling, one of which was a large painting we did not want to transport. Before the appointment we received a detailed email as to what to expect at our appointment. Mark arrived on time and was very cordial and knowledgeable. He offered us fair market value for some gold jewelry we no longer wear, and he will be attempting to sell two items at auction. Our experience so far has been particularly good. 5/17/2021 I'm happy to report our two items sold at auction and we received our settlement check. I would definitely do business Mark Lawson Antiques again.

Change your Google information. I just drove all the way out to Marcus Blvd. Because that's what Google said your address is, just to see "Our location has moved." This is not hard to change. At least have something on your website that says that more clearly; in your Japanese Sword section on the site, it says "at both our albany and Saratoga locations" which, hey, is kinda an issue when there is no Albany location. Very frustrated; this isn't a small amount of gas I spent to come here.
