Yesterday was my first time visiting Luriya. I was warmly greeted, and the wait time was very short. I brought in two solid gold necklaces (10k and 14k) and received a fair price for them/ was given cash for my items. I called them and scheduled the time estimate I would be there and what I was selling for a smoother process.
I came here after seeing all the great reviews, hoping to sell some scrap gold while prices are high and maybe build a relationship for future sales. Unfortunately, I left very disappointed. I brought in 42g of 14K, 5g of 18K, and 17g of 24K gold, plus two small diamond rings. Based on the day’s gold price (around $4,130/oz), my melt estimate for the gold alone was about $6,075. Their offer was $5,650 total, including the diamond rings — not great, but acceptable, so I agreed. Then the son said his father needed to “confirm” the price. The father came out, lowered the offer to $5,100 without explanation, and accused me of trying to rip them off, even though we had already agreed on $5,650. He raised his voice and dismissed the prior agreement entirely. It felt like an old-school pressure tactic — bringing in an “authority figure” to undermine the deal and make the customer doubt themselves. I walked out, and they later called me back, which says a lot. The fact that they have so many good reviews makes me think they treat people differently depending on who they think they can take advantage of…
