I brought in a 14k white gold Effy sapphire and diamond ring weighing 5.15 grams to get a purchase offer. The ring is branded, in good condition, and clearly not just scrap gold. I was offered $300, which felt like a scrap-only price, with no real consideration given to the Effy brand, the sapphires, or the diamonds. I asked if there was any flexibility or if the offer reflected the jewelry’s resale value, but there was no movement on the price. While the interaction was polite, I was disappointed by how quickly the value was dismissed and how little effort there seemed to be in evaluating the piece beyond melt value.
