Mike is fair with prices , honest , and very knowledgeable about coins. Anytime I've sold coins to med city coin it was never pressured. He has a good sense of humor. I would recommend med city coin as it is the best coin shop I've ever experienced and Mike is one of the best in the business.

First time in Med City Coin shop. Very nice and clean. The man behind the counter answered all my questions. I thought the deal we made was very fair. If it was the owner behind the counter he seems honest and likeable!

I popped in the other day while I was down from the cities and they had a pretty cool selection of 1oz silver rounds. I picked up one I hadn’t seen anywhere before and it was well protected in a case. The owner was willing to β€œgeek out” with me a bit since I’m new to this and so I learned a few things too. I’ll be back to dig through the pot of gold, I mean silver. πŸ‘πŸΌπŸͺ™

I wanted to let you all know my experience selling silver and gold at Med City Coin and Bullion in Rochester, MN. I met the store owner, Mike. Very nice guy. I saw him on our local KTTC TV channel a while back talking about the precious metal industry and the high gold prices. I know KTTC does thorough investigations into topics, so I felt some comfort knowing I was going to a place where they had been. I showed Mike some old, very worn, silver dollar coins that I knew were only valuable for their silver content. He pulled up an app that only showed him the latest pricing. He said the industry has too much silver and is not buying, but he would give me $15 per coin. The going rate of silver on the date that I sold my coins was $49.66/oz. Mike ended up paying me $20.98/oz. Calls to the same types of places that Mike sells his silver to showed that 6 out of 7 places take 90% silver dollar coins and they pay between $29 per coin and $32 per coin in scrap condition. One place said they were full and could not accept any more at this time. I then pulled out two 14k pure gold necklaces. Mike ran them through his $15,000 to $20,000 XRF machine to test the purity, and he confirmed they were pure and solid. I had no doubt as we had purchased these from our local jewelry stores decades earlier. Mike said he was taking 30% off the going rate. He put each one separately on his scale and weighed them. I mentioned that it was a cute small scale, and he said they could be bought online for $7. On this day, gold closed at $4,267.90/oz. 30% off this means that I was paid $2,987.53/oz. I received cash. I did not receive any paperwork or receipts. Everyone’s situation may be different. I just wanted to give an honest account of mine. My biggest mistake was trusting my local TV station and their interviewing process. I later found out that precious metals dealers typically pay 10% to 20% less than the spot value of gold and silver like mine. If there was a mistake in the calculation or a misunderstanding on pricing, I’m open to hearing from the owner and will gladly update or remove this review if it’s resolved.

I come from out west, where they actually mine silver and treat people fairly. This place is full of egotistical people trying to rip you off. Silver is 100$ an ounce but they will only give you 70$ for high quality bars…. Unreal that anyone would be desperate enough to do business with them. Many places will give you what it’s worth, don’t let these pawn stars talk you into a lesser amount.
