On Monday I did business with Lee for the 4th time over the course of 10 years or so. I'm a Maryland attorney that first met Lee on behalf of a client around 2015. Ill never forget it. He was my first stop in getting estimates on an engagement ring inherited by one of my clients. After looking at the ring for all of about 4 minutes, he gave me his quote. While it sounded fair, I let him know that I was obligated to get at least 2 additional estimates on my client's behalf. His reply was not what I expected, though certainly welcome: 'Of course Michael, but I can tell you right now that no one will beat my offer.' His declaration threw me a bit because of the resolve with which he said it. I mean, how could he be so sure... you never know when another jeweler will offer more for whatever reason (liquidity/cash flow). What's more, being the first of three bidders, Lee was in the unenviable position of being outbid by a few dollars upon my disclosure of his bid to the other jewelers. Well suffice it to say, he was right... and it wasn't close. Since then Lee has had and will always have my total trust.
