The owner is a know-it-all, who doesn't know it all. I would never purchase from this store.

The selection of history both in New Orleans, weapons and coins gives it the feeling of a time machine letting you experience a blast from the past

A wonderful shop filled with antique weapons, coins, and historical items. It was a pleasure to peruse the inventory with my teenage son. We identified a few collectibles that we hope to purchase. One of the shopkeepers, Richard, was especially helpful in explaining the history of each piece. Thank you.

I feel James H Cohen is definitely worth a visit. This is a really nice collection of antique coins, jewelry, guns and swords for sale. The staff here is knowledgeable about the goods they offer. The prices are a bit more than you might find elsewhere, but you are assured what you get is authentic. If you like antique weapons this is a place you should not miss.

Agree with a lot of the other reviews. Visited this place after brunch next door at Brennans. I’m a huge firearms collector so you know I had to visit this store to see what they had. I will agree with they have a nice curated collection and the younger guy knew a lot of his stuff and was nice enough to go thru some of the info with me , like how they acquire them and provenance of the pieces and the details they goto inspecting them before they buy them to resale…. But I’ll say it like a lot of others , it’s more of a museum , to say it in a kind manner , I’m not sure how they make a profit to keep the doors open. The lowest price antique firearm started around $1750 and I think the dueling pistol set was $28k. It’s the right piece for the right person type shop , but outside of the grades paper notes and coins , I didn’t see much business going on.

Absolute hidden gem. This pleasant surprise came after a meal at Brennan's. If you are around the area you gotta visit, during my visit I had the pleasure to speak with Aaron who was attending the shop. - Super informed - Knows the background and history of each item - He easily contextualizes each antique treasure into New Orlean's history and social landscape. Definitely a visit for hoobyists but also for the curious. Side note: Aaron is very knowledgeable in global geopolitics absolute delight to speak with.

Really well displayed and organized store. Nice selection of rare relics and artifacts for sale. If not for the gentleman at the front counter behind the storefront glass I would have gladly given 5 stars. He seemed disgruntled and irritated that I was there. There was only one other customer in the store that was being helped by a coworker towards the back of the store. I wanted to tell him if he was so unhappy to be there maybe he should find another career. Retail sales did not appear to be his forte. Tempted to leave one star, but I do realize that people can have an off day and I possibly caught him on a bad day. He just needs to realize that my time is every bit as important as his.
