Tommy has always treated me very fairly, and then some. I’ve gotten some great deals on tools, musical equipment, and a number of random items I didn’t even know I wanted until I browsed around the store a bit. 🥴 You never know what you’ll find in there, which is what makes it fun. I pawned a chain saw to Tommys Pawn shop a week or so went by and I tried to call the pawn shop no one answered the phone so I kept calling for several weeks and no answer and final when I did catch the shop open I went in to check on my saw and I was told oh that's been gone for several weeks now so had someone answered the phone I could have made arrangements to pick up my saw now I'm going to have to buy another one and he only pawned it for a 1/4 of what it was worth and he will tell you that phone is his least worries it dont make him any money or I'm so bissy I ain't got time to answer the phone— Jason Preston, Jan 2026
My wife and I went antiquing recently in Shelbyville, since there are several wonderful shops throughout this charming old small town. By chance, exiting town, we discovered that Tommy's Pawn has some real hidden gems too! I purchased several wonderful gentleman's traditional pocket knives from this shop and they were a real bargain and a true pleasure to work with while negotiating a fair price. Ignore the previous poor reviews, if you see something you like in this store these folks are great and they will work with you very kindly. No doubt they are out to make money, as all businesses are, so bring cash, it helps when bargaining on the lowest price. I recommend these good folks highly, it's worth a visit.
