Very unique experience full of lots of treasures. Higher end antiques and collectibles not the common low end flea market stuff.

Just purchased a pocket watch from the owner. It was a pleasure doing business with him.

We saw the reviews about the owner being super rude and decided to try it out for ourselves! Sadly, all of the terrible reviews were true. I honestly don’t even know how he ever got a good review. The owner is super rude and won’t let anyone in unless he likes the way they look. Seriously, don’t waste your time with this one. He deserves 0 business for the way he treats others.

If I could give them 0 stars I would. I am from town and even also work on main street, but never have I met a store owner so rude. I have tried shopping in the store with my boyfriend at least 4 times now and every time we go in he says that he needs to leave and lock up that he has an "appointment". I am very disappointed as me and my partner love to antique shop and I would love to see the full store and maybe buy something. This past time I tried shopping will be the last as we were told we needed to leave because of an "appointment". I then walk back by maybe 10 minutes later and there is another couple in there shopping and he was in fact not closed for an "appointment". If you are in McPherson I do not recommend going here for any reason. If you are looking for antiques shop at The Ark and Elizabeth St. Flea Market. They have incredible staff and very fairly priced merchandise.

I stopped in today with my son at around 1:30 on July 16th. Didn't get but 5 ft in the door when the owner came up to us and immediately said "are you looking for something?" I said I just wanted to look around for now. Immediately said "I have to be at an appointment in a few min so you have just a few min and won't have time to go all the way to the back" I said Ok. Looked for a few seconds just the see the owner constantly check his watch and pace back and forth. I understand if you have to close early. But if you need to do so just close with enough time for you to go and not basically push someone out your door. Close 45 min early or something like that. No one wants to feel super rushed by watching you pace back and forth checking your watch every few seconds

I have been buying and selling antiques and collectibles for around 40 years. I have been shopping The Rare Find regularly for the last 30 years. It is a second generation antique business in a small town. Most of the inventory is purchased locally. Staying in business in a smaller market through buying from local residents is challenging, The Rare Find has been able to do this through being fair with the people he buys from, this building a good reputation with the community. The Rare Find is truly a rare find these days. Most shops have a bunch of shop worn garage sale junk. Most shop owners sell the good items they find online for an immediate return. This is why it is so rare to find a dealer who doesn’t sell any items online at all. The owner, Mark, has a great eye for quality, as did his dad before him. He is fastidious about keeping his shop clean and tidy though it is literally packed with quality items. A few people have mentioned that Mark followed them around the store, this is true he does. He always has done this, he does it so he can tell you the story of items as you look. I have been shopping and buying from Mark for many years, he knows me by name, he follows me around the store too. I appreciate it because I would miss things without him pointing out items he thinks I may be interested in. Additionally, Mark is attentive to detail. When you have this much inventory in this small of space it needs to be set up so everything is visible. Mr. Clement, the traveling picker looking for bargains to sell to east and west coast high end dealers, goes on and on in a previous review about the prices at The Rare Find. The truth is that Mr. Clement is just upset he couldn’t come in and line his greedy pockets buying underpriced treasures from a Kansas hick. No, The Rare Find isn’t a thrift shop, thankfully, it is high quality antiques at reasonable retail prices. Overall The Rare Find is among the last of the great local antique stores. If you are a collector or enthusiast treat yourself to a visit to The Rare Find. Say hey to Mark and Tank for me! The early horse weathervane with zinc head and the Black Forest Bear are my most recent purchases at The Rare Find, good luck finding this kind of quality anywhere else in the area.

Exceptional shop if you are interested in fine art, period pottery and eclectic antiques. The owner could not have been nicer or more knowledgeable. This is a place we will come back to again and again. Enjoyed meeting Hank, his English bulldog, too!
