I was a visiting tourist that came in to see their selection of coins. I figured the selection would be different than back home. I stood there for 20 minutes before they realized ai wasn't leaving until I was helped. So rude!! Don't waste your time or money on them.

Five star for service and friendliness, not pushy at all. I was looking to buy an expensive item and couldnt get the banks to cash out. The price was well above current market value as well. Understandably shop owner didnt want to take a loss.

I've been looking for a good coin shop on Maui and came across this one in a Google search. Glad I found it. Besides selling and buying coins, they are a pawn shop. I needed some cash and I was able to make a loan. Really helped me out. The staff is very knowledgeable and professional and easy to work with. This will be a regular stop when I am in Wailuku.

Coins are over priced and owner was rude. $150 for a $70 silver coin. See ya. No way I am giving my money to someone who has an attitude when asked a question. UPDATE: The owner has posted a response to this review asking me to call, which I did. Turns out the man at the shop was a longtime employee, not the owner. The owner apologized for the negative experience and offered to sell the 1 ounce silver trade dollar for $100 which is 4 times spot price while admitting he would not pay more than $35 ($10 over spot price) for this coin (we happen to already own one back home, except mine has the certificate of authenticity). The online authority on these coins puts the retail value at $50 over spot price which would be $75, more than double what he paid (which was likely even less as this coin was part of a bulk collection they acquired, per the msn in the shop). I told the owner that anywhere but Maui, this coin is probably worth spot plus $0 which he did not dispute, but he said basically that he is in Maui and a tourist will buy it. Of course he can sell it for whatever he wants to - I don’t begrudge him that. But it seems a bit opportunistic to overcharge just because you can - but I understand that happens all the time in the world. These coins are available online in the $75 range. This was to be a gift for our son who was turning 16 when we returned home. The owner offered to hold it but needless to say, I wasn’t going to pay 4 times what it would be worth back home. GOID NEWS though, I found a very nice 2 ounce silver Canadian coin within the same area of this shop and it was for a reasonable price and became a nice gift to add to my son’s collection. BEWARE OF THIS STORE - in my single experience and resulting opinion, the owner is motivated to be opportunistic in exploiting tourists for maximum profit than selling at the market price for a fair profit. Know your facts so they don’t take advantage of you.
