Great price on some coin albums, thanks. People they sell online so don't go there expecting to see display cases of coins, it's not that kind of store, make an appoint or visit there online store.
Ben could easily have taken advantage of the fact that we know nothing about coins and offered us $40 for the lot of coins we had, but instead, he offered us $600 for our mostly 19th (and some early 20th) century collection. I recommend him without reserve.
The Business has changed ownership and there is now a middle man involved. He is taking 10% if you are selling, the offer will be 10% lower. I will no longer be a customer after 30 years of having been.
I drove from Marco Island with a decent collection of rare coins. I was greeted at the door by an older lady who was very polite but as she opened the door she looked at me from head to toe (I was wearing a Gucci Tshirt , cargo shorts and flip flops- very casual but by no means trashy ) and stated "I'm sorry we are "upside down ar the moment, what can I help you with". I stated" I have a collection of coins and would love to look around" . Her reply was "I can give you a business card..." at that point I said " ma'am I drove from Marco Island." She didnt budge! So if you are under the age of 50 and dont make a "reservation " I would not give these people the time or day!!! How rude!!! Zero explanation. Besides "we are upside down?" What does that even mean? I'm in shock after reading others comments. Oh well there are other Numismatics in Naples! ————————————————————————— Update 10/31/24, I see you responded 11 months ago that you’re under new ownership, however stated “there are no old ladies working here” versus a customer focused apology on behalf of the store name. Is your store still “American Rare Coin Collectibles”? If it were my store (which it is not) or a clear example of one of my potential customers being stereotyped, judged due to age (I would have been 38 yrs old @ the time. lol), or ANY misrepresentation of my company, I would have published a public apology and ask that the person come back to my store! You have done neither! I’m glad I saw this post, as I was looking for numismatist because I have several coins that I’m wanting to take to a proper numismatist to evaluate and possibly sell. Please know, I am a busy person and would much rather be doing ANYTHING else besides complaining or speaking negatively to ANYONE! Unfortunately, due to your response of blatant carelessness and obdurate nature, I couldn’t contain the need to respond.
