Place is a dump
I've passed this shop thousands of times and always wanted to go in as a coin collector. And also wanted to value some of the coins that I had in person. Decided to drive over there today with some of my stuff. I go to walk in and the door is locked. The guy behind the counter motions at the door which I try again apparently he has to buzz me in. So he does so, and I walk in and he angrily says you don't have an appointment. To which I said I wasn't aware I needed one. He said that's what all the signs say read the signs. Mind you the only signs that you can see from the road are the two signs that say open. There are some white pieces of paper under the neon open sign but you can't make those out and I still don't know what they say. He was extremely rude right off the bat and I ended the entire experience right there and then and just left. 10 out of 10 would never go back here again. I can't believe any business owner would immediately be that rude with a new customer out of the clear blue sky. If I had let it, that interaction alone could have ruined my day. Do not give this guy any of your business. I would drive hours to go to a different coin shop.
Yes, the owner is less than very personal..so what. This man had what I asked for and the price makes sense it’s perfectly in the wheelhouse considering all variables. Bring a mask, he requires it. If you wanna deal in coins, knowledge means so much these days over an app that uses your phones camera. I think Bill is an alright guy, just don’t expect him to kiss your butt.
Very rude, just called this guy asking if he bought silver coins, he goes on to say “stupid question” then I ask how much he pays out for just regular silver rounds and says “I won’t give you a price over the phone period” he seems like a very rude and grumpy old man, i could tell I didn’t want to deal with this guy all with just a 30 second phone conversation, he should maybe try being more polite to people and maybe he wouldn’t get so many negative reviews.
I had an appointment last week. I found the owner, Bill Barnes, to be very reasonable. He simply asks that you make an appointment and wear a mask. He was extremely knowledgeable and explained the market. I was given a fair price. I would certainly return. The negative reviews are hysteria about the public not having access to breezing through the door- that’s IT. I liked him.
The owner is older and is amazing. He helped me with tons of jewelry that was given to me by a passed on relative. If people think he’s grumpy, I wonder what energy they brought… he was kind, patient, and gave away so much time and knowledge for free. He’s a gem
