Today 2/16/2026, I was told I had "fake silver" coins of a white guy. The one employee asked where I bought them from before my coins were returned to my possession. And he also attempted to very bothersomely lecture me! I also had to use the last of my 4 dollars cash today for a bus pass.

I visited for a quote on a sizable bullion purchase, intended to be the first of several transactions. After receiving the quote, I had follow-up questions about its validity and pickup logistics. Despite calling multiple times and leaving a voicemail, I received no response, so I chose not to wire funds without clarification. When I returned weeks later for a new quote, on an even larger amount due to rising prices(which would have been to their favor). I was informed I was no longer permitted to conduct business there. No clear explanation of this policy was provided, nor was it disclosed in advance or on their website. The interaction was handled unprofessionally and without transparency. I had spent more than 2 hours waiting in line for this response. For high-value transactions, communication and clarity are critical. That was not my experience here. Serious investors may want to avoid this coin gallery.

Okay, so I've removed my prior 1 star rating because I felt ripped off. But now I must give a new rating for quick service, fair pricing on my gold and courteous service. Very happy here today. After being told at pawn shop that my gold wasn't real and worthless, I got a real appraisal and a great price. Thanks to Hallenbeck for being professional.

I found a few old silver coins and rounds in my closet and, since I don't collect silver, just wanted to get rid of them. Stopped by Hallenbeck's and a young man (sadly, I have forgotten his name) helped me out. He was courteous, efficient, and I was in and out in fifteen minutes. The best part, the price they gave me was EXTREMELY fair. I trade gold regularly so am very familiar with the precious metals markets, and these folks are beyond any expectation I had. Follow Up: 3 weeks later, and I have returned to Hallenbeck's twice for much larger silver transactions. These 2 visits were each with different staff, and were equally as impressive in terms of fairness and courtesy. These guys (and gals) are the real deal.

At the end of April 2025 I took some gold coins and a couple of my collections to Hallenbeck coins to see what they would offer. I'm getting older and it's time to sell off parts of my collection so I don't leave them for my wife to deal with once I've passed. The price for gold was fair, so I sold 11 gold coins. The price offered for one of my smaller collections was fair, so I sold that book as well. However, I was looking to sell my complete Flying Eagle and Indian cent collection. The employee offered less than $900 for the entire collection. The majority of coins in this collection are graded between G4 to F12. The 1856 Flying Eagle was graded by NGC. This coin alone is valued between $11K-$13K by PCGS and USA Coins. The 1869/9 is valued between $500-$575, the 1877 is valued between $1300-$1350, and the 1909S is valued between $475-$515. I have no qualms with a coin dealer making a slight profit off their transactions, but this was clearly corrupt and offensive to offer less than $900 for a collection worth between $16K - $18K. Won't be doing business with these folks again. Hallenbeck Coin Gallery Owner(s). Since posting my review earlier this year you never responded. An indication to me that you condone the corruption occurring in your business. To date, I've had no fewer than 13 potential customers hit "like" on my review. I'm hopeful they avoided doing business with you until you address your corrupt pricing practices. Hallenbeck owner. You are clearly a LIAR and seem to enjoy making false and defamatory accusations! The 1856 Flying Eagle that you allege was not certified was in FACT certified by NGC, certification number 4746724-001, and was graded as "PROOF FINE DETAILS." Secondly, I've been collecting coins for almost 50 years and have a fair idea as to coin grading. Your conduct to screw consumers out of money and then make false accusations is shameful!

Worked with a smaller older female yesterday that told me all I had was costume jewelry were. In fact I had 10 karat gold that was paid for today by gold rush. Didn’t want to take the time with us because she felt that all I had was costume jewelry. If you don’t want to be in customer service, maybe you should check into a different profession

Love this shop always! currently (as of last week) they are not taking any silver scrap or flatware none of that and he said until at least 2027....just fyi. they also stated they arent accepting silver scrap because the silver market is so crazy that the refineries that they use are having too much product to refine so they stopped buying for now....(which doesnt help me out because all I wanted to do was turn my silver scrap into a gram or two of gold...ugh) They do now have a cap on the amount being paid out for gold scrap at ($2000) meaning they will only buy up to $2k of your gold scrap whatever purity it is. they bought my scrap gold, and always fair prices for gold!! which I was more then happy to get rid of but that money has to help me pay to repair my car, which is why i also wanted to sell all my scrap silver so I could still own some physical gold...guess ill either have to find somewhere else they will give me a fair deal for this scrap im sitting with or just hold it until hallenbecks is accepting again...I dont wanna wait until 2027 though πŸ€” ugh!
