I had an appointment with Dayton and arrived on time. His “store” is a very small nook in the back of a coffee shop. While he was literally holding my spool of Argentium wire, another customer walked in and Dayton immediately began helping him instead, without saying excuse me or acknowledging me at all. Given the tight space, it was especially awkward and felt very rude and unprofessional. His appearance was unkempt, and the handling of my materials did not inspire confidence. He attempted to measure the Argentium wire using a plastic tub and did not tare the scale, which is concerning when dealing with precious metals. Ultimately, paying a 10% fee on materials worth thousands of dollars simply for him to act as a courier between me and the refiner does not make sense, especially since I have an EIN and have since been approved to work directly with the refiner myself. Overall, it was an unpleasant and disappointing interaction, and I would not return. ***Edit I’m disappointed that instead of addressing my concerns directly, you chose to comment on my outfit and bring the owner of Coff33 into the conversation. Referencing someone connected to my career feels both unnecessary and inappropriate. It comes across as an attempt to deflect and intimidate rather than resolve the issue. For clarity: I was wearing a helmet because I arrived on an EUC. I removed it upon entering. My personal safety is my priority, and that shouldn’t be framed negatively. Regarding the transaction, you stated 10%, not $200. There’s a clear difference. Accuracy matters in business discussions. Also, tare is a basic function when weighing items, understanding how to properly zero a scale is fundamental when precious metals are involved. I want to be clear that I don’t need permission, guidance, or a waiting period to process my experience and leave a review. Customers are entitled to share their experiences on their own timeline. To be fair, I will acknowledge that you gave me the idea to approach a refiner. So ultimately you saved me a significant amount of money. For that, I do appreciate the tip. I hope future interactions with customers stay focused on professionalism and transparency.
