Rip-off

I am out over $13,000.00; AI says that is grand theft. Huge mistake dealing with Ken Shearn of Palm Desert, CA. and Todd Griffiths of Coin Connection Studio City, CA. What was to be no more than two weeks has now led to an impasse of a one year of battle. The alleged tag team got me good shorting me of 3 gold coins. In reaching out to the ANA (American Numismatic Association) for help, they told me to contact the person at numismaticcrimes. What I found out is that I made a huge mistake doing business with either of these guys. Ken Shearn is a 40-year coin guy and Todd Griffiths is a second-generation coin guy. The details of this transaction are as follows. On August 11, 2025, at 12;06 pm a deal was confirmed by Ken to trade a shipwreck gold bar for 35 one-ounce gold coins. The agreed trade was not what I wanted which was 37 coins, I lowered it to 35 to allow for commission. Ken said he had a buyer which he had the opportunity to sell at any price to get a higher commission if he wanted. After sending the bar Ken then tells me the buyer backed out. Ken then tells me he gave the bar to Todd which I never agreed to. I called Todd and asked how long the transaction would take, he said no more than two weeks. This is where the nightmare started. Todd sent me coins in several batches over many months after many broken promises. I told him many times I would take action against him. I was very upset, Ken said not to worry that he knows where Todd's skeletons are buried. I thought to myself, why did you hook me up with this guy? Finally, after the best part of a year Todd sends Ken the last three coins after sending the previous coins to me. Now, Ken has not sent them to me for months now. He tells me good luck getting them. I asked Todd why he sent them to Ken and not me and I get no answer. I have no idea what deal was made. I even offered a partial settlement to both Ken and Todd to end the nightmare with no takers. Now, I require the 3 one-ounce gold

Wow! Love the staff and the entire experience. My partner and I popped in to sell some silver. I’d been watching the values online and the staff at Coin Connection was fair and transparent and more importantly, just fun and engaging to be around. We left saying we’d have liked to park a chair in the lobby and have a glass of wine with the whole crew. Maybe next time! I’ll be back to buy and sell. Thanks Coin Connection!

These guys had me hanging calling back every day atleast twice per day, 3 days in a row. "Call back later". They put a fake listing on ebay to see what they can get for a coin and pulled the listing after I had full intent to go ahead and pay. After speaking in circles with Desiree, Mike, Dave on separate instances ("we will have to call you back leave your info") each time I called back and spoke with them, who are you again? What are you buying? We don't have time because our ebay guy got "fired" (conviently) each said: I am looking at your coin, Desiree: I have to speak with Todd, I'll get back to you. Mike: how much you wanna pay? Dave: no worries we will take care of you. None of these underachievers ever called me back. And they have the nerve to start with me? Read their past reviews - negative ones line for line. Yeah, you're gonna a get the full treatment. They're reported o Ebay - never gonna sell on there again. Reporting them to BBB. Do yourself a big favor and stay away. FAR FAR AWAY. Hell no I wouldn't spend $1 there, let alone any $$$ amount. I've been collecting for 25 years. You're better off buying off of a truck from Benny.

1-star Review: Poor Follow-Through on Buyback I reached out to Deserea Gain today about repurchasing a few pieces I sold her in late 2024, including a vintage little ruby ring ($100). She requested a photo, which I sent promptly, and promised to send photos of a vintage Gucci belt buckle ($50) in exchange. That hasn't yet happened. Followed up mid-week by phone, and she was flustered—citing being swamped, and “lots of drama.” She said she’d get back to me, but communication has been unreliable so far as it’s been over 2 weeks. Will update when this resolves. Buyer (or seller) beware on buybacks.

One of the best places to sell or buy coins in Los Angeles. Unlike other coin shops in the area, they haven't disconnected their phone and they're willing to quote you a price for inventory you're thinking of selling. More importantly, they're willing to honor that price even in this fast moving market. They also have a good stock of silver, world coins and watches and jewelry that you can look at and buy. Many coin shops at this point have turned into museums or cash for gold establishments but this shop has really bucked that trend.

I am absolutely impressed by everyone at Coin Connection. I recently found some old coins which belonged to my grandmother and brought them in today, not knowing their worth or value. Desiree and David were more than willing to assist me. I’ve never sold coins before, and I was able to see their process of appraisal and they answered any of my questions. They gave me a very good price for my items, and I left with a smile on my face, confident I made the right choice to go to Coin Connection first. I would recommend to anyone interested in selling their collectibles to make Coin Connection their first and only choice. I will, without a doubt, return with any of my collectibles, knowing that this is a place I can trust. Thank you Desiree and David!
